EU directive sees phase-out of halogen lamps

Two EU directives currently in place are seeing the phasing out of directional and non-directional lamps.

Directional halogen lamps will be phased out from September 2016 under the EU directive 1194/2012. This includes MR11, MR16 and AR111 halogen lamps and PAR16, PAR20, PAR30, PAR38, R50, R63 and R80 halogen reflector lamps.

Non-directional halogen lamps will be phased out from after September 2018 (originally scheduled for September 2016) under the EU directive 244/2009. This includes G4, R7s, G9 halogen lamps and also energy saver candle and classic halogen lamps.
